Look to the top of the page, there is a picture of a calender with the "contests" under itThere are also plenty of less structured events, if you'll let us know on hear aproximately wehre you live, or drop me a note, an old guy (or gal) that smells like grip tape will be contacting you soon.

Well Mr. Flying Brian, I'm on the East Coast but there are old man skateboard terrorist cells up and down both coasts and a couple places in the middle. Downhill and Slalom has made a big resurgence, but in my case it is as much an excuse to hang out with old 70's skaters as it is to compete. And you will not believe all the new toys. There are even some high jump contests once in awhile.Hit me up at iaco@att.net and I can help put you in touch with the closest local group. If you're in CA you can choose from SD, OC, LA, SLO, Santa Cruz, San Fran, etc.Joe

Blown away!!!! Regarding the post of 11/09/04 from GBJ. Grasshopper is a friend of mine. I was at this event. We grew up skating in South Jersey. I ended up on a team out of Super Surf Skatepark in Vineland NJ. Mike Bryan (Grasshopper) specialized in highjumps. We would screw around with high jumping and Mike just kept raising the bar. He developed this technique where his two legs were kicked out to the left and the closest thing to clearing the bar was his ass. That world record day was a trip. We were a bunch of skate rats that built quarter pipes, half pipes (all stolen wood of course), slalom tracks, etc. We skated everyday. I will forward this thread on to Grasshopper. He will freak. He has the paperclips and photo of that most memorable day. He blew everyone away that day. Blew them away! Dirt

A New women's world skateboarding high jump record was set by Kendra Bell at the Spot On Summer Classic on September 7th 2008. The high jump event was part on the US National Freestyle Skateboard Championships hosted at the Spot On event. Kendra bettered the old record of 40 inches set by Amee Jay Papelera last November by two inches. How long will Kendras' record of 42 inches stand? Kendra is a great all around skater. On the same day as the high jump she won the women's division of the Freeline contest.

yeah i sometimes look at nearly every page. I can't make heads or tails or arms and feet of that highjump pic, i even broke out the glasses and looked close,it looks like it might be a fozbury flop style of high jump ,on a skateboard?? ever search "high hurdles" on u tube? europeans particularly nordics, seem to have a thing for highjump. Is there some sort of springboard regulation?seems the record should be higher by now.
